Parkes Memorial Prize

The Parkes Memorial Prize was awarded every three years to medical personnel of the Royal Navy, or the British or Indian Armies who completed the best essay on a topic concerning hygiene. Sometimes, the topic was assigned, rather than selected by contestants. For example, 1929's topic was, "The Causes and Means of Prevention of Tonsilitis, with Special Reference to Naval and Military Service".[1]
In 1936, it was decided that the prize should be awarded annually rather than once every three years.[2]
Recipients
The winners were often British or Indian military men. I have chosen to highlight only those winners who were in the Royal Navy.
