Along with Lord and Lady Onslow, the launch was attended by the Duke of Connaught, Commander-in-Chief Portsmouth Sir John Fisher.

Owing to the naming of the latest Indefatigable class battlecruiser for her namesake Dominion, New Zealand was renamed Zealandia on 1 November, 1911 by Lady Hall-Jones, the wife of the High Commissioner in a ceremony at Portsmouth.
