Rear-Admiral Algernon Robert Smithwick, D.S.O., R.N. (3 April, 1887 – 5 November, 1948) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Reverend R. Smithwick of Monasterevan, Ireland.
Smithwick was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 October, 1907.[1]
Smithwick was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 October, 1915.[2]
Post-War
Smithwick was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1919.[3]
Smithwick was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1927.[4]
Smithwick was appointed in command of the light cruiser Concord in December, 1930.[5]
Smithwick was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 10 January, 1939 and was placed on the Retired List the next day.[6]
