There were a succession of ships known as the training ship H.M.S. Caledonia.
One, the former H.M.S. Impregnable of 1810, was renamed Caledonia]] in 1891. She was lying at Queensferry when she was listed for sale at a July 10th 1906 Portsmouth auction of "Obsolete War Vessels and Other Craft" as "Lot 13".[1]
Another such ships was the former R.M.S. Majestic, launched in 1914, taken up in 1936 for use as a Royal Navy training ship under a new name.
