Reported Quirks

The American Naval Attaché reported in 1910 that telescopes in turrets in German capital ships (up to, and probably including the Nassau class) were not mounted to the gun, as in U.S. and British ships, but to the turret. As such, they would not elevate with the gun, which leaves open the question of just how their sighting in pitch worked relative to range.[1]
