Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. Ronald Niel Stuart, V.C., D.S.O., R.D., R.N.R. (26 August, 1886 – 8 February, 1954) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve. His middle name might have been "Neil". He spoke some Spanish.

Life & Career

Stuart was appointed to the special service vessel Q 5 on 30 May 1916. In this appointment, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 1 September, 1916.[1]

He was awarded the U.S. Navy Cross in 1917. He was awarded the Victoria Cross in September, 1917.[2]

Stuart was appointed in command of the destroyer Star on 17 November, 1917.[3]

On 17 February, 1919, Stuart was involved in a collision and was informed that he was guilty of an error in judgement.[4]

Stuart was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 September, 1924.[5]

Stuart was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1928.[6]
