The Royal Victorian Order is a dynastic order of chivalry recognising distinguished personal service to the order's Sovereign, the reigning monarch of the Commonwealth realms, any members of their family, or any of their viceroys. It was established in 1896.

It has five grades, which until 1984 were denominated:

  • Knight Grand Cross (G.C.V.O.)
  • Knight Commander (K.C.V.O.)
  • Knight Commander (C.V.O.)
  • Member of the Third Class (M.V.O.)
  • Member of the Fourth Class (M.V.O.)
