One of the Royal Navy's Anti-Gas Schools was located in Portsmouth, those officers on staff being born on the books of H.M.S. Excellent.

Superintendent of Anti-Gas Training

Lieutenant-Commander Alan Gordon Grierson was appointed to the school on 24 September 1928, but it is not clear whether he was designated to this role.
