Commander R.N.R. (retired) James Archibald Hodges, R.D. (10 November, 1880 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Hodges was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 13 December, 1911.[1]

Hodges was cautioned twice following collisions in 1917 while in command of the destroyer Express. She had collided with S.S. New Abbotshall and H.M.T. Isaac Watton[?]. He was finally removed from command of the destroyer in the wake of these misfortunes. He was evaluated as "is either careless or is extraordinarily unlucky."[2]

Having recently been twice mentioned in despatches, Hodges was demobilised on 19 January 1919 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 13 December, 1919.[3]

Hodges was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 10 November, 1925.[4]

He was removed from the Retired List on 26 January, 1948.[5]
