H.M.S. Canterbury was one of four Cambrian class light cruisers completed in 1915 and 1916.
Service
She fought at the Action of 23 July, 1916, a running night action where she pursued a superiour force of German destroyers.
Canterbury was fitted with a director in March, 1918. This alteration required her pole mast to be replaced with a tripod mast for greater rigidity.[7]
She recommissioned at Portsmouth on 5 November, 1919.[8]
