H.M.S. E 26 was one of 57 submarines of the E class.

Service

D 1, E 55 and E 26 of the Eighth Submarine Flotilla sortied from Harwich at 7 p.m., GMT on 30th May 1916 to take stations at eight mile intervals on a line stretching 20 miles westward from the Vyl Light Vessel. E 26's position was the middle one, at 12 miles from the Light Ship. She sighted Horn's Reef at 11.35 p.m. on the 31st and the Light Vessel at 1.0 a.m., submerging to the bottom soon thereafter.

All three British submarines returned to Harwich after dark on June 3rd.[6]
