Captain Alexander Henry Maxwell-Hyslop, (25 May, 1895 – 28 August, 1978) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Maxwell-Hyslop served as a R.N.A.S. airship pilot during the Great War. As a young man, he was the Grand Fleet's heavyweight boxing champion, though he was himself a light heavyweight.
He was awarded the Albert Medal for his conduct when an 8-in gun turret in Devonshire exploded in the manoeuvres of 1929.
He commanded the Torpoint shore establishment H.M.S. Raleigh from January, 1945 to June, 1946.
His son Robin would become a Member of Parliament for Tiverton.
