Charles Theodore Paynter

Lieutenant Charles Theodore Paynter, (1 November, 1895 – 23 April, 1918) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Appointed to H.M.S. Conqueror on 15 May 1913. On 9 September, 1915 he was appointed to the destroyer Vigilant. In February 1916 he was appointed to the "M" Class destroyer Michael.

At some point, he applied for submarine service, but this never transpired.

Paynter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1917.

Paynter was appointed to the destroyer North Star on 22 July, 1917.

He was killed when North Star was sunk by shore batteries during the raid on Zeebrugge.
