Admiral SIR Denis William Boyd, K.C.B., C.B.E., D.S.C. (6 March, 1891 – 1965) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

It appears that Boyd entered Royal Naval College, Dartmouth directly – part of the Royal Navy's transition from training new cadets in H.M.S. Britannia as the new scheme was being primed.[1][Fact Check]

Boyd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1911.[2]

Boyd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1919.[3]

Boyd was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1924. Lent to Royal Australian Navy in 1926.[4]

Boyd was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1931.[5]

World War II

Boyd was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 July, 1941.[6]

Boyd was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 30 June, 1944.[7]

Boyd was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 21 January, 1948. He retired on 22 June, 1949.[8]
