Gibraltar has long been a major strategic asset for the Royal Navy.

The station limits were decreed in 1913 as being:[1]

  • North: the South shore of Europe
  • West: 5 degrees West longitude
  • South: the North shore of Africa
  • West: 6 degrees West longitude
