H.M.S. Active was one of three Volage Class corvettes completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Re-commissioned at Portsmouth 21 September, 1885.[6]

Active participated in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1890 under the command of Captain Armand Temple Powlett as part of a Reserve Fleet of the force representing the Royal Navy, headquartered in the Downs.[7]
