H.M.S. Amazon was a Thornycroft-built prototype destroyer built for the Royal Navy in the mid 1920s. She and Yarrow's Ambuscade helped determine the design factors that would inform more significant post-war construction, culminating in the "A" and "B" Class Destroyers of 1929-30.

There was an earlier Amazon launched in 1908.

Amazon was commissioned at Portsmouth on 9 May, 1927 under the command of Commander Francis Howard, who had been appointed to the ship almost a year earlier.
