H.M.S. Swinger was one of nine Ariel Class composite gunboats completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Re-commissioned at Hong Kong on 18 February, 1877.[3]

Re-commissioned at Devonport on 2 October, 1883 under Lieutenant & Commander John Locke Marx for service on the Australia Station.[4]

Re-commissioned at Sydney on 4 May, 1887.[5]
