H.M.S. Temeraire was completed in 1877 for the Royal Navy. Her central battery was augmented by single barbettes fore and aft mounting 11-in guns.

Construction and Service

Re-commissioned at Malta on 15 April, 1884 for service in the Mediterrean under the command of Captain Compton E. Domvile.[6]

She paid off at Portsmouth in 1887, but returned to the Mediterranean for her last three years of active service. In 1891, she was finally paid off at Devonport.
