Admiral Robert Hamilton Anstruther, C.M.G., Royal Navy, Retired (10 June, 1862 – 26 September, 1938) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Anstruther was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1885.[1]

Anstruther was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1897.[2]

Captain

Anstruther was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1904.[3]

He was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class, or Companion, of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George on 28 June, 1907.[4]

Anstruther was appointed to the Tamar as Commodore, Second Class on 26 April, 1912, as Commodore-in-Charge of Naval Establishments at Hong Kong.[5] He took up the appointment on 12 July.[6]

He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 16 July, 1915, vice Barton, and in accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 9 March, 1914, was placed on the Retired List on 17 July.[7] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 3 November, 1919,[8] and to Admiral on 1 August, 1924.[9]
