The Royal Marine Artillery was established by Order in Council on 18 August, 1804 by forming one company of artillery at each Royal Marine division. They were originally formed to relieve the Royal Artillery of the manning of bomb ketches at sea.

Abolished by Order in Council on 6 February, 1832.
