U.S.S. Tennessee was one of two Wampanoag Class screw frigates completed for the U.S. Navy.

Service

Madawaska was renamed Tennessee on 15 May 1869.[7]

By July 1887 she was rated as unserviceable and was authorized to be sold.[8]
