21-in Weymouth Mark I Torpedo (top)[1]

The 21-in Weymouth Mark I Torpedo was a heater torpedo built by Whitehead. Two experimental torpedoes were ordered in 1907-08 and tested in 1908,[2] but no further orders were made.[3]

Development and History

The two experimental torpedoes were the only ones manufactured, and had been broken up by late 1914.[4]

Mark I

Its overall length including 4.5-in long pistol was 17 feet, 10.5 inches (see Plate).[5]
