ADDENDUM NO. 2: 31 AUGUST 1914

If three flotillas [of destroyers] are present :--

(i) Two flotillas (a) and (b) as for 'A' (i), viz., one on each flank of the "Dreadnought" battlefleet.

(ii) One (c) 5 cables astern of the rear ship of the column next to the wing "Dreadnought" column on the windward side, i.e., the probable direction of deployment

If three flotillas are present :--

(i) Two flotillas (a) and (b), as for 'A' (i), viz., one on each flank of the "Dreadnought" battlefleet.

(ii) One flotilla (c), as for 'G' (ii), but 5 cables astern of the rear ship of the division of the 3rd Battle Squadron on the windward side. (If the fleet deploys away from the wind instead of towards, flotilla (c) is to proceed to the van as described under 'B' (ii))

ADDENDUM NO. 5: [SEPTEMBER 1914]

The other object of my tactics will consist in deployment in the direction of the wind in order that we may reap the full advantage of our superior gunnery.

If the enemy deploys in the opposite direction, i.e. down wind, he will be at a great disadvantage, and his attempt to circle our rear will probably prove entirely abortive from the gunnery point of view.
