H.M.S. Maidstone was completed to navy order as a depot ship. Sold in 1929, her name was eventually taken by a later Maidstone launched in 1937.

Service

Maidstone commissioned at Portsmouth on 15 October, 1912[6] and served with submarines at Harwich throughout the war.[7] From September, 1916 through January 1919 at least, she was one of three depot ships supporting the fourteen "E" class boats (in Sep 1916) of the Ninth Submarine Flotilla, which was part of the Harwich Force.

In mid-1927, she was supporting the Second Submarine Flotilla out of Devonport.[8]
