Percy Tennison Perkins
Commander R.N.R. (retired) Percy Tennison Perkins (17 July, 1877 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Perkins was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 1 April, 1908.[1]
Perkins was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 April, 1916.[2]
Retired, Perkins was given command of the Anchusa class sloop Bergamot 5th June, 1917, and survived her sinking on 13th August 1917 when she was torpedoed by U 84, 70 miles west of Killybegs harbour, Ireland.[3]
Perkins was appointed in command of the patrol boat PC 43 on 3 October, 1917.[4]
He received an expression of the Admiralty's appreciation for his good services rendered on 24 December, 1917.[5]
In recognition of his wartime service, Perkins was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. dated 11 November, 1918. He reverted to the Retired List on 29 May 1919.[6]
In 1948, he reported that he was managing house property and was fit for shore service only.[7]
