Plunger Class Submarine (1901)

Seven Plunger class submarines were built for the U.S. Navy in the early 1900s. They would later be designated the "A" class, not to be confused with Britain's "A" class submarines.

Service

In 1916, all the "A" class boats but A-1 were stationed in the Philippines in Manila Bay along with all three "B" class boats, their crews living aboard their tenders Monadnock and Mohican.
