U.S.S. K-5 was one of eight Haddock Class submarines completed for the U.S. Navy.
She commissioned on 22 August, 1914 with Lieutenant (junior grade) Holbrook Gibson in command.
Service
In early 1916, K-5, K-1 and K-2 were sent to Pensacola, Florida, their crews accommodated aboard Tallahassee.[4]
