William Peak Savage
Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. William Peak Savage, R.N.R. ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve. He appeared to be the object of blame in a number of small misfortunes.
Life & Career
Savage was sent to join the collier Glenmore on 16 August 1915, proceeding to North Shields. The ship was stranded on 30 November 1915 and a Court of Enquiry held Savage to blame for not having the necessary charts.[1]
In February 1916 he was appointed to Marcella. She was lost on 25 March 1916, and he was appointed to Seagull on 15 April.[2]
Savage was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 4 August, 1917.[3]
Seagull was lost on 30 September 1918. A Coiurt of Enquiry would find him to blame in the affair.[4]
He would then be placed in command of Banchory. Once again, Savage was faulted for damaging the vessel as she navigated near foul ground at night. Savage was demobilised on 24 October, 1919.[5]
