Augustus Paul Cooke (1836 – September, 1896) served in the United States Navy.
Life & Career
Augustus Cooke was born in Cooperstown, New York in 1836. He was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy from his home state and entered on 27 May, 1852, graduating with the Class of 1856.[1]
Cooke was promoted to the rank of Midshipman on 20 June, 1856.[2]
Cooke was promoted to the rank of Passed Midshipman on 29 April, 1859.[3]
Cooke was promoted to the rank of Master on 5 September, 1859.[4]
Cooke was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 20 December, 1860.[5]
Cooke was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander on 11 August, 1862.[6]
Cooke was promoted to the rank of Commander on 15 August, 1870.[7]
Cooke was promoted to the rank of Captain on 23 November, 1881.[8]
Cooke died in Paris, France on 7 September, 1896.[9]
