H.M.S. Lark was one of twenty-two destroyers of the Laforey class.
Service
Lark joined the Third Destroyer Flotilla upon completion, one of those supporting the First Fleet. She took part in the Battle off Noordhinder Bank on 1 May, 1915 under the command of Lieutenant Commander Charles Everard Hughes White, assisting in the sinking of two German coastal destroyers.
Lark stayed with 3 D.F. through its renaming as the Ninth Destroyer Flotilla in September 1915, by which time its seventeen Laforey class destroyers were part of the Harwich Force. She played a belated role in the Battle of Jutland when she sortied to help screen damaged vessels limping home on June 1. Lark was one of eight Harwich destroyers which assisted the torpedoed battleship Marlborough on this day, joining her at 11 a.m..
In March, 1917, Lark was one of nine destroyers sent from 9 D.F. to join the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla, part of the Dover Patrol. She stayed only until April, 1917 when she went to join the First Destroyer Flotilla, which was then a small flotilla operating out of Portsmouth.
Lark reduced to the care of a C. & M. Party at the Nore on 28 November, 1919.[6]
