Commander (retired) Charles Holt Fforde, (17 February, 1884 – 5 November, 1944) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Fforde was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1906.
In late 1913, fForde was sick at Haulbowline Hospital with syphilis II.
Fforde was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1914. He would serve as navigator in the battleships Mars and Prince George in the early part of the war. In late 1915 he was appointed as navigation officer for the Wallington Flotilla, and from 22 July 1916, in the battleship Albion.
Placed on the Retired List at his own request on 14 May, 1920, Fforde was advanced to the rank of Commander on 17 February, 1924.
World War II
Fforde saw service, including as King's Harbour Master, Milford Haven from 5 April, 1941.
He died in a military hospital, presumably of illness.
