H.M.S. York was one of two York Class cruisers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

York was commissioned at Chatham on 6 May, 1930.[8]

She once again commissioned at Chatham on 19 April, 1932 for service with the Second Cruiser Squadron of the Home Fleet.[9]

The ship was re-commissioned at Chatham on 3 January, 1934 as flagship of the Commander-in-Chief, America and West Indies Station.[10]

She re-commissioned at Chatham on 22 October, 1936 to become flagship of the Commander-in-Chief, America and West Indies Station.[11]
