Commander R.N.R. Robert Burn Thomson, R.D. (20 July, 1881 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Thomson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 29 July, 1906.[1]

Thomson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 29 July, 1914.[2]

Thomson proved helpful in experimental work carried out in Brazen in 1917-18, the work being carried out in conjunction with H.M.S. Vernon. However, in December 1917 her was cautioned to more closely adhere to Cordite Regulations aboard the vessel. This may be the same incident which is simply described as an "adverse report" in his same Service Record.[3]

Thomson was demobilised on 7 April, 1919 and promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1922. He was placed on the Retired List on 24 November, 1925.[4]

World War II

Mobilised in Australia, he was appointed to Penguin as Base Staff at Brisbane.[5]
