Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. John Samuel Leece ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Leece was promoted to the rank of Temporary Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 9 January, 1916.[1]
He would serve in the armed merchant cruiser City of London from 8 February 1916 and then the destroyer Fame from 7 April, 1917.
Leece was promoted to the rank of Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. on 9 January, 1918.[2]
On 9 April 1919, Commodore-in-Charge of Naval Establishments, Hong Kong Gurner evaluated Leece as Sat[isfactory] and Av[erage], but added "cannot recd. this offr. for employment in any capacity in H.M. Service." This is unusual, as other evaluations for Leece had been positive.[3]
