Captain R.N.R. Cyril Edwards, D.S.O., R.D., (8 July, 1874 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Edwards was awarded first class certificates in gunnery and torpedoes during twelve months' training that ended on 28 July, 1906.

Edwards was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 1 October, 1906.[1]

Edwards was called out for the war and appointed to the armed merchant cruiser Alsatian on 12 August, 1914. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 October, 1914.[2]

Acting Commander, R.N.R. Edwards was appointed in command of the destroyer Dove on 1 January, 1916.[3] He would ground her later that year and be cautioned to exercise greater care in future.[4]

Edwards was appointed in command of the destroyer Pelican on 20 December, 1918.[5]

Edwards was demobilised on 15 June and promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1919.[6]

Edwards was promoted to the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 30 June, 1924. He was placed on the Retired List on account of age on 8 July 1929.[7]
