Captain R.N.R. Ernest Edkin, O.B.E., R.D., R.N.R. (27 November, 1880 – 1949) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Edkin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 5 June, 1909.[1]
Edkin served in the battleship King Edward VII from 25 June 1915 to 14 January, 1916.[2]
Edkin served in Patuca from 8 December 1916 to 13 December, 1918 being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 5 June, 1917 and becoming the ship's executive officer, perhaps on that date. During this time, he acted as commodore of five successful merchant convoys and would be "mentioned in Despatches for Services in ocean escorts between 1st July and 11th November 1918."[3]
