Commander R.N.R. James Quayle, R.D., R.N.R. (5 April, 1887 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Quayle was appointed to the armed merchant cruiser Celtic from November 1914 to 10 January, 1916. After some time at Pembroke, he was appointed to the battleship Prince George on 24 March and then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 1 April, 1916.[1]

Quayle was appointed Lieutenant, R.N.R. in Command of the patrol boat P22 in November, 1916.[2]

Quayle was demobilised on 24 February, 1919.

Quayle was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 April, 1924.[3]

Quayle was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1931.[4]

World War II

In November 1948, Quayle reported that he was living in Southport, fit for home shore service only, and was presently the master of the Cunard White Star liner, R.M.S. Ascania.[5]
