H.M.S. Ostrich was one of forty "C" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "30 knotter".
Service
In late 1905, she was one of eight destroyers in the Third Division of the Channel Fleet's Destroyer Flotilla.[8]
In mid-1913, active with Sixth Destroyer Flotilla.[9]
Ostrich collided with the light cruiser Concord on 19 February, 1917. Captain Paton of Concord was informed that he should have familiarised himself with his patrol area beforehand.[10]
