H.M.S. Usk was one of thirty-six destroyers of the "River" class.
Service
In late 1905 she was in commission in reserve as part of the Sheerness-Chatham Reserve Division and listed as a tender to the Pembroke.[8]
In early 1907 she was in commission with a nucleus crew at Portsmouth and listed as a tender to the depot ship Hecla.[9]
In early 1910 she was a member of the Home Fleet's First Destroyer Flotilla.[10]
Usk paid off at Sheerness on 1 May, 1911 and entered dockyard hands. Her crew were sent to recommission the destroyer Dee at Devonport.[11]
In mid-1913, Usk was in Hong Kong.[12]
Under Lieutenant-Commander Maxwell, Usk was amongst three "Rivers" employed in towing landing boats in to Anzac Cove at the Dardanelles.[13]
