Commander R.N.R. (retired) Edward Robert Pitt, R.D., R.N.R. (20 October, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Pitt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 1 April, 1916. His Service Record does not agree with the command appointment a Navy List indicates for him. He would later help around the harbour at Durban and serve in the second class protected cruiser Hyacinth.[1]
He was mentioned in despatches on 13 June 1918 and demobilised on 30 April, 1919.[2]
Pitt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 APril, 1924.[3]
Pitt was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 14 May, 1927.[4]
World War II
Pitt served with Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships.
