Captain R.N.R. Wilfrid Montagu Bruce, C.B.E., R.D. (26 October, 1874 – 21 September, 1953) was an officer of the Royal Naval Reserve during the First World War. His middle name may have been spelled "Montague".

Life & Career

Bruce was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 20 December, 1907.

Bruce was related to the famed explorer Robert Falcon Scott, and went with him to the Antarctic, but was not a member of the landing party.

Bruce was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1913 for services in the Antarctic.

Bruce was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 30 June, 1919. He was demobilised on 4 October, 1919.

In 1948, Bruce reported that he was unemployed and was not able to serve in the event of an emergency due to his age and rheumatism.
