H.M.S. C 31 (1909)
Pendant Number: I.61 (1914)
C.31 (mid 1915)[1]
Builder: Vickers[2]
Launched: 2 Sep, 1909[3]
Lost: 4 Jan, 1915[4]

H.M.S. C 31 was one of thirty-eight "C" class coastal submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In February, 1910 Lt. Thomas C. B. Harbottle was admonished to be more careful after C 31 collided with the ketch The Brothers.[5]

In the Test Mobilization, she was one of seven "C" class boats comprising the Fourth Submarine Flotilla.

Captains

Dates of appointment are provided when known.

A Navy List shows Duff-Dunbar in command of this boat from 1 November, 1909, but this seems to contradict Service Records for both he and Harbottle.[11]
