Commander Edward Francis Balston, D.S.O. (17 February, 1911 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
As with many men born c. 1899 or later, his Service Records at The National Archives do not reflect activity between 1931 and 1939 or so.
Life & Career
Balston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 February, 1933.[1]
World War II
Balston commanded a pair of old "H" class submarines off Norwegian shores as well as four "T" class subs in the East during the war. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 February, 1941.[2]
Balston was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1943. He was placed on the Retired List on 8 April, 1955.[3]
