Admiral SIR John Durnford, G.C.B., D.S.O., Royal Navy (6 February, 1849 – 13 June, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Durnford was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1888.[1]
Appointed Captain of H.M.S. Vernon on 12 November, 1895. [2]
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 18 October, 1906, vice Campbell.[3] Durnford succeeded Admiral Sir Arthur D. Fanshawe as President of the Royal Naval College, Greenwich on 23 March, 1908.[4] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 22 July, 1910, vice MacLeod.[5]
