Admiral Herbert Lyon, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (28 December, 1856 – 6 March, 1919) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Lyon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 7 February, 1880.[1]

Lyon was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1894.[2]

Captain

Lyon was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1900.[3]

Lyon was appointed to the Tamar as Commodore, Second Class and naval officer in charge at Hong Kong on 18 August, 1908.[4]

Retirement

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, Lyon was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 25 January, 1913.[5] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 24 October, 1915.[6]

On the occasion of the King's birthday he was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 3 June, 1918.[7]

He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 January, 1919.[8]
