Shipwright Lieutenant-Commander William Henry Evans, R.N.R., Retired (12 April, 1867 – 8 January, 1939) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
I think I may have pulled the wrong service record here, as command of Gatwick was not hinted at, but ...
Life & Career
Evans was promoted to the rank of Carpenter on 1 October, 1899.
Evans was promoted to the rank of Commissioned Shipwright on 1 October, 1914.
Evans was promoted to the rank of Shipwright Lieutenant on 1 June, 1921.
Retired due to age on 12 April, 1922.
Evans was promoted to the rank of Shipwright Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 1 June, 1929.
