Commander (retired) William Burrows, (24 July, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.
Life & Career
Burrows was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1905.[1]
He was placed on the Retired List as unfit, owing to defective vision, on 18 March, 1911. In 1912, he was allowed to accept an appointment in the Royal Australian Navy. By year end, he was placed in command of Cerberus.[2]
Burrows was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1913.[3]
In 1915, he was awarded the Royal Humane Society's Bronze Medal for saving life at sea in January of that year.[4]
Burrows was promoted to the rank of Commander on 24 July, 1923.[5]
