Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. Lawrence Hugh Kirby, ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Kirby was given the rank of Temporary Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 26 October, 1914 and sent to minesweeping courses at H.M.S. Vernon and Excellent. On 4 November, he was appointed to Cyclops, additional, for command of a group of trawlers, himself being placed in H.M.S. Setter.[1]

Kirby was promoted to the rank of Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. on 13 December, 1915.[2]

In December 1916, Kirby was appointed in command of an armed trawler in Auxiliary Patrol Area I. On Christmas Day he was appointed to the yacht Mera. Following gunnery and torpedo courses, Kirby was appointed to Colleen, additional, for gunnery duties in Auxiliary Patrol Area XXI.[3]

Kirby was demobilised on 26 September 1919.[4]
