George Plunkett England
Captain George Plunkett England (18 January, 1877 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
England was born in Ealing, son of Captain W. G. England, R.N..[1]
England was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1899.[2]
England was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1910.[3]
England was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 99 on 10 October, 1912.[4] He suffered a bout of pleurisy in July, 1913.[5]
England was appointed in command of the destroyer Laurel on 30 August, 1914.[6] He was again ill in October, 1915. He was found fit for shore service in 1916, possibly on 22 May.[7]
England was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1917.[8]
Post-War
In January, 1919, he was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Amphitrite.
On 28 February, 1919, England was appointed in command of the battleship London.[9]
In September, 1921, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Birmingham.
England was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 4 July, 1922.[10]
